Elizabeth.Ink: Beyond the postcard: The truth about living abroad.

Hello, Lovely Human!

I’m delighted you knocked at my door. I was hoping you would. Please, come on in.

If you've ever wondered about the challenges and rewards of making a foreign country your home, then you're in the right place. Here at Elizabeth.Ink, I share my frank thoughts and complicated feelings about what it feels like to pull up stakes and move overseas.

For all the Eat, Pray lovers out there, I give you fair warning: you might not like it.

Through personal stories, articles, and podcasts, I share:

  • The highs and lows of adjusting to a new culture

  • The personal growth (ouch!) that comes with it

  • I also dig into the emotional rollercoaster of returning home after years

away; how it can feel familiar yet foreign all at once.

Whether you’re dreaming of a big move or have already made one, I hope you’ll find something here that resonates with your journey.

Who is Elizabeth?

Friend, I wish I knew.

Moving abroad profoundly and irreversibly changes you—yes, okay, sure, there are cool things about it, but trust when I say it also morphs you in ways you didn’t sign up for.

A girl who can’t take a selfie and is okay with that.

I’m a former journalist. My plays and musicals have been performed in Los Angeles and at the LA Fringe. I won the prestigious Writers Lab Screenwriting Fellowship (thank you, Nicole Kidman, for your support) and have written several award-winning screenplays. An American, I’ve lived across Europe with my French husband and moitié-moitié son. Currently, I reside between Switzerland and Paris; that is, when I’m not on Cape Cod in Massachusetts, decisively losing the battle against mold, mice, and a leaky roof.

Come on over!
