I loved this line-- "Living abroad can be creatively expansive in ways that just aren’t possible back home."

I feel like living abroad is making your life an experimental act. It's improvisational performance art every day where you're constantly learning and evolving and adapting. Great piece and thank you Elizabeth and Kaila for creating community among writers living abroad and making it easy for us to find each others' stories.

Love Kaila's honesty--I made it 2 years in Thailand (up in Kohn Kaen), and I just could not cope. The doublespeak really got to me: I'm TERRIBLE at reading signals and just wound up dazed and confused about why people were so uncaring (not realizing, of course, that I was registering as super rude to them). I am super impressed that she made it this long, and wish her luck on her next steps!
