This was SO FUN to listen to, ladies! It felt like a really authentic conversation with discussions on some key topics when it comes to living abroad and having French husbands. 🤣🇫🇷
I loved learning about your move and adjustments, Beth, and cool to learn more about you, too, Elizabeth. Will keep an eye out for your cookbook too Beth!
I enjoyed the interview a lot. I’m thinking of sharing it with my daughter’s French school in Westchester NY so they gain insight into cultural differences on education.
Oh yes great idea! 🙌 it’s really interesting to see the differences. I totally understand now why all the French moms at our school (my kids also went to a French American school back in LA)were so ecstatic about the American school system. They just couldn’t get over all the fun that was encouraged at school. The dances, the bake sales the parents association coffees, the fundraisers, looking back on it now it really did create an anchor to the community!
At my son's French school in SF, it was always a shock for the French parents when they were welcomed into the school (in France, parents leave their kids at the door), or when the teachers asked for volunteers and chaperones, they looked confused. None of the French moms ever did raise their hands, but you can't fight culture!
Lol! That is so funny! Yes even in my daughter’s Middle School here we don’t have a “Parent Representative” for our class because no one would volunteer. If my French was better I would! Ha!
