Today, we are talking with the always delightful Beth Le Manach from the tasty Substack Entertaining with Beth and her recipe-packed blog—my first stop when planning dinner with friends or when I can’t decide what to cook for myself and my family; Beth saves me!
About a year ago, Beth and her family moved from Los Angeles to a small village in France, Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie. Even though they had spent summers there for decades, living somewhere full-time is very different from visiting on holiday, as the charming quirks of a place can become everyday challenges.
Starting over in a foreign country is never easy, especially in a second language. Yet Beth shows how patience, persistence, and a sense of humour can ease the transition. Over time, it gets easier until one day you look around and, like Beth, say, “On est bien ici!”
