In this Thanksgiving edition of Finding Home, I talk to the delightful Judy Witts Francini of Simply Divina—My Tiny Tuscan Kitchen. Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Judy has lived most of her life in Italy, where she found home in her love of cooking, culture and her husband.
If you’re passionate about food and Italy, then you’re in good company because Judy is, too, and she has much to say about both.
Our conversation is infused with her joy of food and for her adopted country, with a sprinkling of the challenges of pulling off a Thanksgiving dinner for 90 people in an old Florentine mansion back in the day when a cranberry was considered an exotic fruit—but, as Judy explains, things have changed over the years. Now, if you’re lucky enough to be in Florence this Thanksgiving, you’ll be spoiled for choice. If you’re not, don’t fret because Judy has ideas about how to cook your own Italian Thanksgiving dinner no matter where you find yourself on the fourth Thursday in November.
Let’s head over to Judy’s tiny Tuscan kitchen. I’m sure she’s got something delicious cooking. Andiamo!
