Homecoming

Returning to your home country after 20 years abroad.
4

Today, I’m talking to my old friend Gillian Page. Gill, her husband Al, and their three kids spent the past twenty years living around the globe, from Asia to the USA.

Gill and Elizabeth have a chat and a cuppa.

They recently repatriated from Switzerland to England, where their three kids were already working and attending university. It was a bumpy start, but everything fell into place once they decided on York as their new home base.

Not everyone’s homecoming goes smoothly, but Gill offers some insights into how to do it well as she reflects on lessons learned during the family’s time abroad and on the road.

If you’ve ever lived abroad, you’ll understand her unique struggles, and if you've ever thought about it, you can get a peek behind the curtain of what expat life is like from a woman who spent twenty years on the road.
